and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. His prayer also, and how (God) was entreated of him, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up the Asherim and the graven images, before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the history of Hozai. the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets; Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate. And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die. The crown is fallen from our head: Woe unto us! for we have sinned. Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.
