The burden of the beasts of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the humps of camels, to a people that shall not profit (them).
and they shall look unto the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness (they shall be) driven away.
Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away over the brook of the willows.
Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth an adder, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth; their idols are upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: the things that ye carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary (beast).
They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
