Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
