So when Pilate saw that he prevailed nothing, but rather that a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man; see ye (to it). And Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out exceedingly, Crucify him. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king. And Pilate said unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find no fault in this man. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no crime in him. And Pilate went out again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find no crime in him.
