Oh that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! Oh that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end! And they say, Jehovah will not see, Neither will the God of Jacob consider. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive: that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest haply they should turn again, and it should be forgiven them. To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins, To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace. And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.) saying, Go thou unto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive: according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back always. but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin:
