Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein? But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him; Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus. yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him: so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.
