Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows. For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
