For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother. The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. Their feet run to evil, and they make hast to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
