And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh. Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment: Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife. Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
