Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium. And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
