Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
