Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him. And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
