When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ. Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship. Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
