Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed: They perish for ever without any regarding it. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. Terrors overtake him like waters; A tempest stealeth him away in the night. The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And see the reward of the wicked. So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, And all the kings of the earth thy glory. The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it; surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever. I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass; But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, (shall he) not much more (clothe) you, O ye of little faith? For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass: and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.
