For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he walketh upon the toils. A gin shall take (him) by the heel, (And) a snare shall lay hold on him. A noose is hid for him in the ground, And a trap for him in the way. For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy (cometh) in the morning. The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them. When I remember thee upon my bed, (And) meditate on thee in the night-watches. As for the head of those that compass me about, Let the mischief of their own lips cover them. Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise deeds of wickedness With men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties. Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
