Therefore he taketh knowledge of their works; And he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but (it tendeth) only to want. Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread. But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth. as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and (yet) possessing all things.
