And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him. Now after two days was (the feast of) the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him: And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him. Some therefore of them of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill? I know that ye are Abraham's seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham. I and the Father are one. The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. So from that day forth they took counsel that they might put him to death.
