A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant. There is none like unto thee, O Jehovah; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Behold, (the enemy) shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd that can stand before me? At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth trembleth, and the cry is heard among the nations. Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fishhook? Or press down his tongue with a cord? Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; (I am) God, and there is none like me; If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and though in a land of peace thou art secure, yet how wilt thou do in the pride of the Jordan?
