And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. and they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold (of them); they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement one at another; their faces (shall be) faces of flame. I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: (now) will I cry out like a travailing woman; I will gasp and pant together. We have heard the report thereof; our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, (and) pangs as of a woman in travail. What wilt thou say, when he shall set over thee as head those whom thou hast thyself taught to be friends to thee? shall not sorrows take hold of thee, as of a woman in travail? Zion spreadeth forth her hands; there is none to comfort her; Jehovah hath commanded concerning Jacob, that they that are round about him should be his adversaries: Jerusalem is among them as an unclean thing. Behold, O Jehovah; for I am in distress; my heart is troubled; My heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: Abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.
