Like a swallow (or) a crane, so did I chatter; I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail (with looking) upward: O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety. I bring near my righteousness, it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry; and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory. Therefore is justice far from us, neither doth righteousness overtake us: we look for light, but, behold, darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity. And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter. We looked for peace, but no good came; (and) for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay! But those of them that escape shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one in his iniquity.
