And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? (I come) not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war; and God hath commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from (meddling with) God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. (For my life is yet whole in me, And the spirit of God is in my nostrils); Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised; And his greatness is unsearchable. For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; and man hath no preeminence above the beasts: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knoweth the spirit of man, whether it goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast, whether it goeth downward to the earth? Thus saith Jehovah: Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from Jehovah. whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
