He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. And when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season. Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I say truth, why do ye not believe me? Him who knew no sin he made (to be) sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him. Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
