I will heap evils upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them:
And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?
They have set their mouth in the heavens, And their tongue walketh through the earth.
therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, (and) my curtains in a moment.
And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth (month), the tenth (day) of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and sat before me.
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Is it to inquire of me that ye are come? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.
