And wherefore doth Jehovah bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey: were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. And they brought forth the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them. Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel. And their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah! But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape? They shall not return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian shall be their king, because they refused to return (to me).
