And when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and questioning with them, (the brethren) appointed that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he beheld the city full of idols. (Now all the Athenians and the strangers sojourning there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear some new thing.) And Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus, and said, Ye men of Athens, in all things, I perceive that ye are very religious. But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was constrained by the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they brought him on his way unto the ship. Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone;
