What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones; Yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight: How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water! Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbleth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
