And David and his men went up, and made a raid upon the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those (nations) were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
And Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
This is the land that yet remaineth: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites;
Nevertheless the children of Israel drove not out the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites: but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel unto this day.
And Saul smote the Amalekites, from Havilah as thou goest to Shur, that is before Egypt.
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
