And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou consume the righteous with the wicked?
Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city. Wilt thou consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked. That be far from thee. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?
and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.
For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made.
The burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel. (Thus) saith Jehovah, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him:
Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
