For, lo, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string, That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart; How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me? Consider (and) answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the (sleep of) death; Through the wrath of Jehovah of hosts is the land burnt up; and the people are as the fuel of fire: no man spareth his brother. The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil (to come). Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths. For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men. Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king; for unto you pertaineth the judgment; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
