He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who (among them) considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke (was due)? And Jesus answered and said, as he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that the Christ is the son of David? And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him: And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet. The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching. Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spake I nothing. Why askest thou me? Ask them that have heard (me), what I spake unto them: behold, these know the things which I said.
