I, Jehovah, have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thy hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; I bring near my righteousness, it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry; and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory. For so hath the Lord commanded us, (saying), I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth. how that the Christ must suffer, (and) how that he first by the resurrection of the dead should proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust. Wherefore? Because (they sought it) not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling; but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness; to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;
