And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, besides children. And it came to pass the selfsame day, that Jehovah did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, that have murmured against me, surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. I, Jehovah, have spoken, surely this will I do unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die. He sent Moses his servant, (And) Aaron whom he had chosen. Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with (you).
