And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments. Then Job arose, and rent his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped; And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes. O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us. Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay aside their robes, and strip off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble every moment, and be astonished at thee. and shall cause their voice to be heard over thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes: And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
