Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbor, nor rob him: the wages of a hired servant shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. Thou shalt not lend upon interest to thy brother; interest of money, interest of victuals, interest of anything that is lent upon interest: Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number. A voice is heard upon the bare heights, the weeping (and) the supplications of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Jehovah their God. Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. The godly man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. Their hands are upon that which is evil to do it diligently; the prince asketh, and the judge (is ready) for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth the evil desire of his soul: thus they weave it together.
