but it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall bathe himself in water; and when the sun is down, he shall come within the camp. Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad: Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne (by me) from their birth, that have been carried from the womb; and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry (you); I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. Yet I taught Ephraim to walk; I took them on my arms; but they knew not that I healed them. And for about the time of forty years as a nursing-father bare he them in the wilderness.
