But the ungodly shall be all of them as thorns to be thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with the hand; For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns; yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. The best of them is as a brier; the most upright is (worse) than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen, even thy visitation, is come; now shall be their perplexity. For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Jehovah of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
