He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters, Unto the confines of light and darkness.
Or (who) shut up the sea with doors, When it brake forth, (as if) it had issued out of the womb;
And marked out for it my bound, And set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further; And here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Thou art my hiding-place; Thou wilt preserve me from trouble; Thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. (Selah)
They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, And afflict thy heritage.
Fear ye not me? saith Jehovah: will ye not tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it? and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it.
For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God;
